Besonderheiten des Moduls

The module is part of the International Study Program offered in cooperation with American universities for students from the USA. The program lasts 6 weeks and usually starts in early May. The program is organized by the International Office. Registration is done directly through the module coordinator or the International Office of the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück.

Kurzbeschreibung

The module offers students of engineering and landscape architecture a cross-sectional view of engineering and landscape architecture topics, provides interdisciplinary connections and places these in a social context against the background of current developments in Germany. Due to its broad interdisciplinary approach, the module is suitable for both international and German students and is offered as a six-week block seminar in the spring. Through a broad cross-sectional view of different engineering and planning tasks, the respective interdisciplinary interdependencies and interrelationships are conveyed in order to be able to better classify one's own professional activities from the point of view of sustainability and the idea of innovation. Examples include energy production, mobility, agricultural technology, mechanical engineering and steel production and their varied history in Germany. The serious consequences, the current ecological change and the transformation of cities and society are topics that will be addressed. The expansion of renewable energies and their impact on the landscape are also addressed, as are structural change and the challenges posed by climate change. Current social changes will be critically examined against the backdrop of Germany's eventful history. In this module, different topics are offered in 5 units. Theoretical seminars, practical laboratory work and illustrative excursions by various lecturers from the IuI and AuL faculties are presented in the individual modules with the aim of giving students a multi-layered insight that, in its entirety, illustrates the complexity of sustainable action in today's world. In addition, several day trips will be organized throughout Germany to visit exemplary projects and developments.
